52% of Downloads are Pirated?

Imagine creating a business model that was based on illegal user activity. Sound far-fetched? Not according to Rick Carnes, President of the Songwriters Guild of America and copyright lobbyist. On a recent trip home from Kansas City, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Rick Carnes and his wife, Janis Carnes, artist and country songwriter for such artists as Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire.
According to Carnes more than 50% of material downloaded on Google is used illegally based on copyright laws. With the ease and access of information on the Internet, copyright protection is important and more difficult than ever to enforce. Get more information on copyright law.
