Farmers and Cows Texting?

Who said texting was just for hipsters? Swiss farmers are using SMS text messaging as an alert when Elsie the cow goes into heat. Christian Oesch, 60, is testing a device that implants sensors in cows. The sensors measures body heat and when it reaches a certain temperature – BINGO – Oesch receives a text from one of his cows.
This is particular helpful information.  In recent years, cows have been under increasing stress to produce larger quantities of milk, and are showing fewer and fewer signs of heat.
Some animal advocates have raised concern. Not over the implant, but rather the increased stress that cows have been under.
