Andrea Howard Receives Award

“I lost my dad to suicide in 2011 and I would like to take this perfect opportunity to direct the $2,000 in honor of my dad, Gary Brown, to the Oak Ridge Mental Health Wellness Fund. Tifany Wong, an Oak Ridge High School junior, established the fund at the El Dorado Community Foundation after launching an initiative to reduce teenage suicide in our local schools. I couldn’t save my dad, but my dad and his “little girl” (as he always called me) are helping a young lady save someone else.”  -Andrea Howard
Andrea Howard, Principal Planner at Parker Development Company and Marshall Foundation Board of Trustee, was recently recognized at Marshall Foundation for Trustee of the Year (TOY). In the spirit of making a difference in our community through volunteerism, the foundation recognizes extraordinary passion and excellence each year.
The purpose of the award is to allow the TOY award recipient to designate $2,000 to a health care organization of their choice in the community.  These funds reflect the compassion of our trustees in caring about the citizens of our community by directly benefiting their needs.
Andrea’s passion for our community is tremendous and demonstrated daily through her generous time and treasure. She supports a number of charitable organizations and serves on the non-profit boards for the Boys and Girls Club El Dorado County Western Slope; El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Corporation; El Dorado Hills Endowment Cabinet; Hands4Hope – Youth Making a Difference; and the Center for Violence Free Relationships.  Andrea joined the Marshall Foundation Board of Trustees in 2014 and currently serves on the Executive Committee, Annual Funding Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and the Bob West Drive for Marshall Golf Committee.

It is our honor to recognize Andrea as “one of our great leaders”, said Executive Director, Karen Good. Thank you, Andrea, for your example in leadership and courage. We are proud of you and privileged to recognize you with this special award.
